LittleBigComa

It’s a clever spin on the title but for anyone who’s spent even a few days with the game, seeing LittleBigSomething is becoming an all-too-common occurance. Still, it’s the best explanation I can give for completely ignoring everything else in my online life. The game’s Create mode is so enthralling and captivating that hours spent toiling over miniscule splines and tweaking emitter settings is just as rewarding as playing a full fledged level. The interface is problematic at times and a lot of technical aptitude is required but there are moments when the tools and my imagination are in perfect unison and my hands work as the medium for my creative inspirations. The results, though not always immediately playable, are incredibly satisfying.

I published my second level the other day and started work on a third but I’ve come up for air and handed the TV over to Katy and Animal Crossing: City Folk. I start and stall and give up on so many things in my life and I’m proud to say that I completed at least one of them; my first full-length LittleBigPlanet level. If I have the energy (and time) to do it again remains to be seen. For now I’m back online (and lining up posts) but all the while I’m thinking about what to create next.
