Let’s Talk About “That Three-Letter Word: DLC” with Fwends [Episode 003]

Episode 003: That Three-Letter Word: DLC where we discuss the differences in approaches to DLC (largely between Capcom and Namco) and try to think of ways to “balance the scale” and not be so sleazy to consumers.

About Us and the Show
Age-old friend Rob and I haven’t recorded much together since the days of NfamousGamers back in 2009. The site is long gone now but our five episodes remain online, as does Rob’s guest spot on an early GameLuv PodShot episode.

That’s not to say we haven’t kept in touch. Across town and across the country we IM and chat pretty regularly but just finally decided to sync up in real-time to record a new (hopefully weekly) show. Based on Rob’s “Let’s Talk About it” videos, the new show will focus on a single topic each episode, frequently about gaming but anything is up for discussion. Right now you can find it on either of our YouTube channels (mine | his) but I’m going to eventually get it up on the podcast circuit so you can subscribe wherever you listen to shows.

Let’s Talk About “Free to Play & Play & Play & Play” with Fwends [Episode 002]

On Episode 2, Rob & Shawn almost finally get the intro right. And then talk about the free-to-play lifestyle, its perils, and how we feel about all that. It’s a real premium episode, one that’ll make you subscribe and follow along while we grind our way to the level cap, err, Episode 3.

Some of the games covered include Crossout, Marvel Heroes 2016/Omega, Spelunker World and Ace Combat Infinity (naturally), and some free-to-play MMOs like ArcheAge, Star Wars: The Old Republic and Allods.

But for now, here’s Episode 001: This Digital Life where we try to wrangle the entirety of digital media – games, movies, and music (oh yeah, and print too!) – and how the move away from physical goods sits with each of us.

The GameLuv Show loves Korean Stuff

It’s the KLuv show this week: Korean pop, Korean dramas (and how they differ from Japanese dramas), Eat Your Kimchi… oh and then there’s some game talk in there too! Dana (and her mom) played some 3DS and went to the Nintendo World Store, Katy bought Plants vs. Zombies again and continues to love Dynasty Warriors 7. Meanwhile, I played through Portal 2… but can’t say anything about it.
