E3 2001: Hands-on with Kameo on GameCube 📺

For the month of June, It Came From The Collection and ICFTC -TV- are going back in time to E3 2000 and 2001! Some of this has been shared on GameLuv in the past but it’s here again with new trimmings and higher resolution video.

After it moved from the Nintendo 64 and before Rare was bought out by Microsoft, Kameo existed on the GameCube and Nintendo had it playable at E3 2001! Check out six minutes of hands-on footage and some chit-chat with the PR rep on hand. I really liked that you could see Kameo inside the various creatures she could summon, it’s quite a change from the Xbox 360 game we ended up with four years later!

📺 About the Show 📺
It Came From The Collection -TV- is a supplemental series to my hands-on videos. These clips, commercials, and programs go live every Saturday morning to recapture the spirit of the legendary cartoon lineups and laser-focused marketing aimed at young minds. I’ve tried to clean up the picture and sound, and render them at 1080p for a more viewable presentation. ICFTC -TV- ! Part of a nutritious breakfast!

Midway Games Winter 1997 Toys “R” Us VHS 📺

This.   VHS.   Tape.   From.   Midway.   Games.   Is.   90’s.   Hype.   For.   Real ! !

That intro is seriously amazing stuff and it kicks off this 26 minute look at Midway Games’ Winter 1997 lineup including clips of Top Gear Rally, Mace: The Dark Age, Gex: Enter the Gecko, NBA Fastreak ‘98, Pandemonium 2, San Francisco Rush, Maximum Force, Wayne Gretzky’s 3D Hockey ‘98, and Rampage World Tour.

At 11:48 is the feature attraction, a Behind-the-Scenes look at Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero including development footage, a tour of the studio, and interviews with: John Tobias, Ed Boon, Josh Tsui (Graphics), John Walsh (Software), Bill Dablestein (Software), Rich Ho (Graphics), Carlos Pesina (Grpahics), and Jim Tianis (Co-Director). There’s even a special bleeped-out appearance by Eugene Jarvis.

All this and trailers for the arcade versions of Mortal Kombat 4 and NFL Blitz.

You can buy Joust again. I also started a new Site

Joust when you thought you’d never see the Midway arcade classic on Xbox again, Major Nelson confirms that it’s been been re-listed out of nowhere. Joust is once again available to buy on Xbox 360 and Xbox One for $4.99. I recorded a quick little video of the game running on Xbox One which you may notice isn’t on my personal YouTube channel.

Surprise! I started working on a new site back in March that officially launched on June 1st that’s all about delisted games. Not surprisingly, it’s DelistedGames.com. It all started with the delisted games I recorded last year and the commenters who repeatedly (frustratedly) asked why their games had disappeared. Beyond simply confirming that “[Name of Game] has been delisted” I wanted to compile as much information as I could on where the game came from, when it disappeared and why.

It’s been fun, enlightening research and it’s sent me into mysterious new areas of the internet to dig up licensing terms and copyright expiration dates. The site has come a long ways already with 90 games fully detailed and pages for over 100 more. While investigating older games I’ve kept the main page updated with new delistings and server shutdown announcements.

It’s become more of a Memorial to the Lost than the simple database I initially started with and I love it. Even bad games deserve to be remembered! So check it out if you’ve ever been curious about a game you lost or if you’re worried about one that might soon go away.
