Virtual Console and Xbox Live Have Nothing on These!
Although word of Coleco’s return goes all the way back to 2005, I hadn’t seen (or rather, not paid attention) until spotting half of their new line of plug-and-play handhelds at Target. For once it looks like I’m not alone in my disdain for a gaming product as several of the units are already on clearance including Absolutely You, a DVD-based multiplayer quiz game for girls (above).
The real surprise (again, not so surprising had I been able to remember) was the Sega/Sonic handheld with its own built in screen, TV-out plugs, and a handful of Genesis and Master System ROMs games. The only downside? The $50 price tag. Youch. I’d rather pay money in the Wii Shop Channel.
Across the street at Big Lots the latest shipment of clearance-ware has arrived and brought with it the first of what will likely be many truckloads of unwanted plug-and-play game boxes. Twelve bucks gets you just as cheap an emulator box as that Coleco one.
