Shamble: The Grand Theft Auto IV “Zombie”
When I first heard that zombies were coming to GTA4 by way of a friend (by way of Joystiq) I was thrilled. The thought of Liberty City teeming with infected civilians all shambling after Nico conjured up delightful memories of Dead Rising. Sadly, the reality of it culminates in the disappointing (and disturbing) image above.
By playing multiplayer and killing someone who has killed a Rockstar developer you become “infected”. You can’t tell until you check your status at the Rockstar Social Club or until you return to customize your online character. That’s where you get the above skin, a vaguely zombie-esque man in Rockstar undies. Luckily, it only took me about 45 minutes to get Let Sleeping Rockstars Lie, the viral Achievement which unlocks the zombie skin.
At this point I remembered how apathetic I’d become to the game. Multiplayer matches hardly ever connect (or stay connected) and the few players who were talking immediately began rambling off all the expletives they could think of. The multiplayer gameplay is also underwhelming and I hardly every ran into anyone among the sprawl of Liberty City.
Oh well, there’s always Dead Rising to go back to.
