Achoo! Pardon Me, I’m just excited about this Game
Speaking of non-competitive emo gaming, here’s Pollen Sonata from a hopeful team in Denmark. I’m still not quite sure on how it plays or what the goal of each inevitable “level” is but here’s the high concept from their site:
“Our wish is to create a game that gives the player a unique experience that feels like a fresh breath of air from current games in the market. We are striving for innovation in gameplay and story. The feeling and mood of the game is poetic and serene, unfolding like a beautiful piece of music.”
From the gameplay side of things it sounds a lot more familiar, “Pollen Sonata is an adventure-simulation game. Gameplay involves player flying from flower to flower in a micro world by adjusting a pollen’s forms corresponding to various wind conditions. Folding and changing form is the primary way to float, glide, collect more pollens and navigate in the air.”
There’s a Steam/Half-Life 2 powered demo available but I’ll be damned if I’m putting that crappy content delivery/hard drive highjacking software back on my PC. I’ll settle for watching the video again and scratching my head in excited anticipation of the hopeful Wii release.
