Beautiful Katamari
Before this game came out I felt like it was just another Katamari game so they could have it on Xbox 360. I still wanted to play it, but I didn’t feel like it would be much to the series. It wasn’t until after I returned it to the rental store that I realized how much I liked this game in comparison to past versions. First of all it looks so much better. I forget how bad some PS2 games look until there’s a comparison like this.
Some game play also has greatly improved in my opinion. I was playing the part in We Love Katamari where you roll up the sumo wrestler, which is awkward because at first the sumo isn’t very round. You end up bumping many things and any little bump crashes a million things off your katamari. This isn’t as bad in Beautiful Katamari! It’s more forgiving, or I should say, less mean about it.
Another thing in the older game I noticed was any moving creature larger than you seeks you out to crash into you. Not so much in Beautiful Katamari. It makes the new game more enjoyable and less frustrating. I don’t know about you, but those two things drove me crazy!
I didn’t plan to buy this game, but now I want it. It’s starting out on my Holiday gift list. If I don’t get it, I will buy it later.
