[‘o] Oh Great Day of Discounted Games!
The stars aligned this past Friday in the shape of a big dollar sign wrapped by a buster symbol, foretelling the day of great game discounts. Practically every store I stopped at had some great discounted values.
First off was BIGG’s, a local department store chain whose electronics section has apparently not performed over the years. They’ve been a great source for cheap PlayStation and even Dreamcast games over the past five years but I never expected to get 50% off DS games and 30% off Xbox 360 games. Sad as I was to see the department close down, I made one last big save by picking up Project Gotham Racing 3 for a mere $21 and True Swing Golf for only $10.
Next up was Toys R Us who looked to be coming off of another discount sale. Slim pickings all around, I found a copy of Urban Reign for PS2 marked down to $7.50! Blockbuster still sells it at $45. I have yet to call about the trade-in value but I may be scammin’ it up soon. I do plan on keeping at least one copy of the game as a friend of mine enjoyed it despite its raging difficulty.
Further down the road I stopped at a newer Target store. Still out of Wii’s, with PlayStation 3’s collecting dust, I made my way past the $20 endcap to the clearance corner. A whole shelf of GBA games had been marked down but only Ace Combat Advance caught my eye. The worst of the series, I got it for all of $7 and only to further add to my Ace Combat collection.
Awed at my luck I stopped at Wal-Mart as well but that was the end of my cheap-spree. True Swing Golf is great fun and perfect for the DS and PGR3 is almost satisfying the racing game urge I’ve had lately (I was hoping for something a little more arcade-y but refuse to replay Burnout: Revenge). Here’s to clearance prices and a little bit of patience!
