Sudoku on the DS
My first experience with sudoku was with Brain Age. I completed all the puzzles on all the levels and didn’t get anything for it. I hoped for at least a witty comment from Dr. Ryuta, but no.
We found Sudoku Gridmaster for around $10 on sale so I bought it. The difference in controls bothered me at first, but I got used to it. Brain Age gave me the option of having it tell me when I entered a wrong number and after 3 or 4 wrong numbers it would say I failed and I’d have to start over. Gridmaster doesn’t tell me something is wrong until I enter the last number. By then it’s hard to see the mistake or how to fix it and you end up restarting the puzzle. I wish it had the option to tell me when they are wrong. I do like some of the controls of gridmaster better. When I hit the shoulder button it highlights the areas of the grid around a square that would be effected by that square. The writing controls were misunderstanding all my writing regardless of how I wrote a number and I ended up resorting to the game’s button feature instead.
I stopped playing a couple weeks ago after I completed all 80 of the puzzles on easy mode. On normal mode I found myself having to restart puzzles too often and that got on my nerves. Since then I bought Harvest Moon DS, so I am done with sudoku for a while.
