[‘o] DS Touch Generation Retail (mis)Placements

This has been going on for a while now; retail stores sticking copies of Brain Age and Big Brain Academy in obscure places. Is this Nintendo’s suggestion, their idea of taking the Touch Generation titles out of stereotypical game cases?

Because it’s not too much of a leap and seems like a more remote place to display the titles. Wal-Mart (above) has the two titles wedged into a discount endcap full of old GBA and GameCube titles that seemingly says to parents ‘hey, these games are a-ok for your little ones!’

Meanwhile, a local Target store set up a “display” on the side of an endcap a few aisles away from the rest of the video games, but still within the toy department.

How about a few copies and some DS display boxes down by the board games? Among the puzzle books and cheap electronic games? Lining the checkout lanes? There’s plenty of opportunity to captivate shopping zombies with shiny iPod-white devices and simple and fun (and even educational) games in the big box retail space.
