Finally! Nintendo Releases DS Headset in Japan
Take a look at your DS, yeah, down by the headphone port. See that little rectangular slot next to it? The one with the picture of a headset next to it? Now there’s finally reason to take out your can of compressed air and blow that thing out, Nintendo has released an official headset… in Japan.
So, what can you actually use it for you may ask? So far the only U.S. title to support the headset is Metroid Prime: Hunters, but in Japan you can also intimidate your opponents in Nintendo Mahjongg. Of course, the big draw is Pokemon Diamond and Pearl which hit Japan later this month.
While it’s not as hip as chatting with other players online you can also use the headset with any game that requires the microphone. So you can blow out fires in WarioWare and shoot down Rub Rabbits without having to yank the DS towards your stinking hole. No more spittle on my screen, no sir!
Though no official date has been set, look for the headset to make it out in U.S. shops round about the time that new Pokemon game shows up. Just a hunch.
