King of Kong: Some Very Late Impressions
We’ve had Netflix for a while now but what with my computer dying and getting sick I just remembered the other day that you can watch stuff online, anytime. The first thing I spotted was The Beastmaster, the old 80’s movie starring the lovechild of Conan The Barbarian and Luke Skywalker who could like, talk to animals. Wow, it is so much worse than I remembered.
Then I noticed King of Kong which, by all rights I should’ve watched as soon as it was showing but for some reason I kept putting it off. It turned out to be fantastic and has turned me into what is probably Billy Mitchell hater No. 13,245,301. What an incredible asshole, I wanna get really good at a game just to destroy one of his other high scores. Afterwards I fired up Mame to try my hand at the game. I knew I was never very good at it but after all three tries I had only managed to scale one-third of the way up the screen with a total score of 100 points. I made it to the second board on my next try but gave up and switched to Turbo Force for a quick game of nostalgic flying car shooting. I never did care much for Donkey Kong but now I respect anyone who’s ever tried for a high score; yes, even you Mr. Billy Mitchell.
