Boom Boom Mini brings Fireworks Action to the DS
If you haven’t gotten your fill of detonating fireworks over the years with Fantavision on PlayStation 2 and Boom Boom Rocket on Xbox 360, SouthPeak Interactive has your next incendiary invitational in the form of Big Bang Mini on the DS. This one isn’t a puzzle or rhythm game though, fusing the pretty sky lights with a Space Invaders-style invasion. Details are slim but the press release touts that you’ll:
Use the stylus to create fireworks in order to deal with waves of enemies that loom overhead. Miss and you’ll be forced to tackle another challenge – avoiding falling sparks created by your missed explosions. The end of each level comes with a unique opportunity for would-be fireworks designers to make the ‘Final Bouquet’ – a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that will proclaim your victory. With over 90 levels to complete, Big Bang Mini offers players huge scope for its special brand of fireworks fun.
It sounds a little iffy but after seeing these first screens I’m hooked. As if the E-induced visuals weren’t surprisingly captivating for the DS, the inclusion of chinese dragons, flying swords, superheroes, and jetpack-equipped sharks settles it. I’ll no doubt be back with more leading up to Boom Boom Mini’s autumn release. A couple other shots after the break.
