Like Pokemon Snap, except with Plants

Maybe I’m just expecting too much nowadays but this Shikitei (Four Seasons Garden) offering coming to the PlayStation Store just doesn’t look very good. And for a game where all you do is design a tiny garden and then take pictures of it, they seem to be missing the point.

The changing weather, accelerated day/night cycle, custom soundtracks, and over 20 critters should liven it up but this thing should look gorgeous. Even for a downloadable title that costs $15 and takes up 640 megs of space I feel like it should look just a little slicker. It doesn’t look too bad in the image above but take a gander at some of the larger images, and then imagine that at 1080p on a 50″ Plasma screen.

Not that I’ve got much to worry about, Shikitei will probably never make it out over here, despite allowing you to design Western-style gardens complete with cherubs and be-flowered arbors. More images at GameWatch.
