Lets Show these Kids what Pinball is all about
Let’s face it my aging compatriots, pinball is pretty much dead. With the downfall of arcades here in the U.S. pinball has all but disappeared. A few licensed machines are still being released but where can you go to play ’em? Nowadays the largest market for pinball machines are consumers who plunk down a few grand to have an untouched machine shipped to their door. The alternative for the less affluent? Digital pinball.
It’s been a long road for the pinball video game but with better physics simulations and faster hardware things have been shaping up in the last few years. Flipnic on PlayStation 2 was a phenomenally weird but traditionally familiar Pinball adventure and Metroid Prime Pinball was such a faithful simulation it might as well have accepted tokens. But a measly handful of titles isn’t any good to a real pinball fan so Oxygen Interactive has stepped up to offer the ultimate challenge; Powershot Pinball *wait for it* Constructor.
Similar to its closest competitors in that it features unlockable bonus areas, tournament and multiplayer modes, Powershot Pinball Constructor stands alone however, with its unique sabotage and table editor features – the latter being shared over a Wi-Fi Connection.
Play it…with multiple modes. Create it…with the unique table editor. Share it…wirelessly with friends!
Mini-games reward players with even higher scores, as do numerous powerups – and with ten modes of play, Powershot Pinball Constructor looks set to be an instant success when it hits the shelves on September 14th.
Make a table, share it with the world, play it in numerous modes. It sounds perfect and looks shiny and metallic (like any good modern pinball table should) but the proof will be in the gameplay. A little too fast, a little too loose and it’s over. Oxygen is also keeping it tight under wraps just how customizable the tables are. Here’s hoping for enough ramps, bumpers, and targets to keep pinball on the brain for months.
