Consolevania Makes me Feel Good to be a Gamer again!
“Consolevania has something that almost every other games show ever created has lacked: true passion for the subject matter .”
– Sky News.
If I were quicker, smarter, and more Eurocentric this is how I would’ve summed up Consolevania had I been watching it for the past three years. Unfortunately, I didn’t discover it until just the other day and I’ve been hooked ever since. Here’s the lowdown:
Consolevania is a freely distributed, non-profit show and has been running for three years. In 2005, the Consolevania team was commissioned by the BBC to create a videogame review series for BBC Scotland. The show, “videoGaiden,” was a critical success and has had two broadcast series so far.
It’s about as well produced as any YouTube video but with Scotish accents so thick that at times I have no clue what the guys are saying. The message is always clear though. I’m now hellbent to find a copy of L.O.L. for the Dreamcast, I’ve found another lone soul who enjoyed Urban Chaos: Riot Response, and I’m polishing up my Scottish accent avery chonce ah geet.
You know me guys, I don’t go in for these video podcasts or “gaming” networks. I’ve never seen GameSpot’s ‘what’s-it-called’ video show, I’ve only seen GameLife like, twice, and G4 turned me right off even when it didn’t completely suck. This is the most excited I’ve been over a video game show since The Game Room.
Check it out at the official site or watch the L.O.L. segment above. They’ve also formatted a part of the site to look good on the Wii and let you watch Seasons 1 and 2 straight away.
