First Screens of Infinite Line on DS (from E3)
You may recognize the image above as part of some bewildering concept art released waaaay back at E3 of Sega’s upcoming DS spaceship creator/RPG, Infinite Line. In development at Platinum Games — the team formerly known as Clover Studios — Infinite Line promises to send players on an intergalactic adventure, combing the depths of space in customized ships and mingling with its inhabitants.
These screenshots are actually from way back in May as well but I don’t remember them or these few gameplay tidbits being reposted all over the net, so here ya go.
Though the interface looks daunting (even more so in Japanese), the game promises to make it a fluid and simple process to customize over 150 different kinds of space craft with Tetris-like modules you can see in the second shot above. You can set out to catch ’em all or you can fine tune the ships you’re particularly fond of. While you’re cruising for ships and parts you’ll come across numerous characters, each of which is said to make a lasting effect on your adventure. Some will join your crew and others will oppose you, which leads one to wonder just how combat might work.
Unfortunately, that’s where the trail of space crumbs ends. For now there’s just one screenshot after the cut that may give a glimpse into the actual 3D part of the game, and even that’s cluttered with interface and text.
