Why we collect information
Data collection on this site is used for general, non-personally identifiable analytics on traffic and page views, and to provide basic on-page advertising to help offset the costs of hosting and managing the site.
Our sites are built on WordPress and also utilize WordPress plugins from Disqus (Comment System), Sucuri Security (Malware Scanning, Security Hardening), and Jetpack by WordPress.com (Social Sharing, Site/Post Subscriptions).
More specific details on third-parties who collect and process this data is provided below.
What information is collected
Google Analytics
GameLuv.com utilizes Google Analytics to collect basic information about page views and visitors (Country, Device type [desktop, mobile, or tablet], time of day, and pages visited) through the use of cookies. We do NOT use the User ID or Demographic features of Google Analytics. We do not utilize remarketing or the Google Analytics 360 Suite of advanced data tools.
Google AdSense
To generate revenue to offset the cost of maintaining the site, we also place a small number of Google AdSense ads on site pages. Currently, this includes 1 square ad block located in the right hand sidebar of most pages, and 1 rectangular ad banner at the top of the Community Forums.
As part of Google’s changes to AdSense in order to comply with GDPR policies, we have elected to display non-personalized ads to visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA).These are defined by Google as being:
“targeted using contextual information rather than the past behavior of a user. Although these ads don’t use cookies for ads personalization, they do use cookies to allow for frequency capping, aggregated ad reporting, and to combat fraud and abuse.”
If you would like to further control the ad settings associated with your Google account (if you have one) and AdSense, please refer to the steps provided by Google here. You may also remove persistent cookies stored on your device by following directions provided in your internet browser’s “help” file or by using the tools provided at https://cookiesandyou.com.
Disqus Comment System
GameLuv.com utilize Disqus to allow visitors and readers to leave comments on our sites. Users sign-up and login to comment through Disqus, making Disqus a data controller. Disqus only obtains consent from users for the collection and processing of data necessary for the use of Disqus. We have elected not to use Disqus’ tracking and affiliate functions.
Currently, users with Disqus accounts can update their settings to opt-out of tracking across all devices and browsers where they are logged in. Logged-out users or readers without Disqus accounts can also opt-out of tracking for individual browsers.
Disqus displays email and IP addresses of users next to their comments in the moderation panel. In advance of May 25th, 2018 this data will be pseudonymised. This means that personally identifiable information will no longer display in the admin panel.
For more on the data that Disqus may store about you as a visitor, please https://disqus.com/support/.
Sucuri Security
This WordPress plugin provides anonymous IP addresses of anyone who attempts to log into our sites. It also provides the associated WordPress username if a visitor is logged into a WordPress account or if they create or access a WordPress account while on the site (to utilize our forum/message board).
Sucuri has yet to detail how they will handle compliance with the GDPR at this time.
