Shimano Xtreme Fishing is legitimately extreme

Whoa, whoa, WHOA! What starts out as a regular ol’ trailer for another boring, ugly fishing game quickly mutates into a slightly disturbing yet hilarious video of a sport that can no longer be called merely fishing. Shimano Xtreme Fishing for the Wii looks to be waging a war on fish-kind so when taking out the scaly critters one at a time with a rod isn’t enough you can do high speed drive by bow fishing or take your buddies underwater for four player spear fishing.

The only thing that really gets me are the blood trails that fill the water when spear fishing, it just seems so much more brutal than the infomercial-style theme song and other game modes let on. And do people really do this nowadays? Stand on a boat and shoot at fish with a bow and arrow with tow lines attached to reel them in? Go scuba diving with harpoon guns, spearing catfish in the face to drag them back to the boat? I could look it up myself but I think you’ll find my flabbergasted questioning much more entertaining.
