Out of Steam

My recent communique with Steam tech support about how to remove their junk from my computer:

Me: When trying to uninstall Steam I get the error message: Could not open INSTALL.LOG file. When I run the uninstall .exe directly a dialog box opens asking for the location of the install.log file. I cannot find this file in relation to Valve or Steam anywhere on my PC.

Response: Hello, Have you tried to use add/remove programs in the control panel to uninstall Steam?

Me: Yes, by saying that I tried to uninstall Steam I mean I tried Add/Remove programs in the control panel. This is the point where I get the error message: Cannot Open INSTALL.LOG file.

Response: Hello, Thank you for contacting Steam Support. Try deleting your blob file to force an update so it should create the install.log file. Then you should be able to uninstall Steam. If that doesn’t work you can delete the folder manually.

To correct this issue, please exit from Steam and delete a file in your Steam directory called:
ClientRegistry.blob

This file would be in the location:C:ValveSteamClientRegistry.blob or C:Program FilesSteamClientRegistry.blob (or the directory you installed Steam to).

The next time you start Steam it will re-create this file, do a brief update, and then you should be able to connect and play.

End communique.

In the end I had to delete the entire Steam folder which surely left little digital chunks all over my C: drive. The only way I’m playing Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 is by way of the sure-to-be-delayed-til-2008 Xbox 360 version. No more Steam.
