Microsoft Tries Something New in Japan; More Potty Jokes
Desperate to sell more than a few thousand consoles each week, Microsoft Japan has begun a re-re-relaunch of the 360. The new campaign looks to capture the random fun and social aspects of the American “Jump In” launch ads with groups of hip looking kids doing hip looking things that segue into game footage.
The theme song is catchy but what really gets to me is the name of this new campaign; the slogan being sung all over Japanese TV: “Do Do Do!“
Whoa! So first we have Nintendo’s Wii and now we have Microsoft’s Do Do Do? I thought the gaming industry was maturing. This reminds me of the early 90’s when Sega and Nintendo threw potshots at each other on a weekly basis with lots of adolescent toilet humor.
